Last night, my wife and I sat down and watched the 79th Annual Academy Awards. First of all, let me say Thank You to whoever invented DVR. We were able to skip right over (Insert Name of Foreign Guy) thank (Insert Names of other Foreign people) for their help editing the sound of (Insert Name of Foreign Film) that no one in my family can even pronounce much less see. We're so sophisticated, we basically just watched Will Ferrill/Jack Black and Ellen and then called it a night.
But I was thinking today, the Academy Awards kind of remind me maybe of heaven. (Not in a sound theological sense, b/c basically I think heaven is going to be an eternity of Praising God forever) But more in a different kind of sense. At the Academy Awards, you think it would be about the big guns: the Pitts, the Julia Roberts, etc. But when it is all said and done, the night is more about the no names that support and make the big guns what they are. And it is a night to go "Well done, guy I have never heard of" "Well done!!" I think sometimes we think heaven is going to be some type of pecking order in which the Brad Pitt's and Julia Roberts ie: Billy Graham, Charles Spurgeon will be getting all the praise and accolades. But I think we will be surprised to see it be more about the teachers, janitors, engineers, mothers etc. who 1) Faithfully loved and served the Lord 2) Pursued their lives with the excellence of Christ and 3) Loved and lead their families with dignity and integrity. We will be looking and thinking "Why is God taking time with Earl the Janitor. Meanwhile God may be going "Well done guy I have known for eternity! Well done!!

Very astute correlation of the two. (I just wanted to use the word astute. There, I said it twice.)
